So, today’s my birthday. And you know what that means? Cake? I don’t fancy sweet things, actually. Balloons? Hmm, not too sure. Existential reflection while having a glass of natural Pinot Noir? Absolutely.
But today, instead of making a wish and blowing out candles like a responsible adult-child hybrid, I decided to treat myself to a dreaming session. That’s right. A full-on, no-limits, all-access mental joyride into the land of “What If?”
Now, I get it – dreaming might sound like one of those fluffy activities best left to Disney princesses or inspirational Instagram quotes. But hear me out…
Dreams are like espresso shots for the soul. They inject energy, motivation, and sometimes just enough delusion to get us through the day. Entrepreneurs dream of their business to succeed and sometimes of a big exit. Athletes dream of Olympic gold. Can I dream of a world where guacamole isn’t extra?
When we dream big, we stretch ourselves beyond the comfort of sweatpants and Netflix. We grow. We level up. We accidentally sign up for marathons (oops, it’s not about me, I hate running).
And when we dream right – meaning we get specific – we start breaking down our wild visions into actual, doable steps. Want to write a novel? Start with a sentence. Want to open a restaurant? Start with a taco recipe. Want to live on a tropical island running a yoga retreat for dogs? No judgment. Dream it. Plan it. Make it weird and wonderful.
So here’s to dreaming – big, right, and often. Especially on birthdays. Cheers to the power of dreams.
